~ Psalm 34:5 ~ Radiance. This word reminds me of the flowers in my garden. When it's dark and rainy the flowers appear dull with their faces toward the ground. When the sun shines on the earth, the flowers look radiant, lifting their faces toward heaven and reflecting the light of the sun. Nature responds to God at His command. Love God or not. It is to our shame if we live without Him in our life. It is to His glory if we live for Him. Similarly, in Matthew 14:25-33, when Peter had his eyes on the Savior, he could walk on water, but when he took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink. None of us are going to walk on water, but our lives will run more smoothly when we are looking at Jesus and getting our instructions from Him, through His Word. When we take our eyes off the Lord and allow ourselves to be controlled by circumstances [the wind] our countenance falls and our faith fails. We lose the radiance that is reflected onto us from the Son. Don't let circumstances cover you with shame. Look to God and be radiant. |
