"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed ."

Do you need some solitude? You're not alone. Jesus needed solitude too. Why would Jesus need solitude? Like us He got tired. Serving people is often a tireless and thankless job, but a worthy one. We serve our families from morning til night. We serve in our churches and communities. We're around people 24/7 and it can become exhausting.

During His earthly ministry, Jesus was a servant. He preached the Word, healed the sick, drove out demons, and raised the dead. It may not sound like much to us, but it was truly exhausting work. Jesus needed to recharge His battery, just like we do.

The battery charging plant for Jesus was in a solitary place. A place that was quiet and serene -- peaceful. A place away from other people and the bustle of life. He went to this place early in the morning, even before the sun was up and there He prayed.

Jesus understood the importance of communication with His Father in heaven. It is from God that we get energy and strength to perform His will for our lives.

In our humanity, we are weak, but He is strong. The Father is our source of energy and strength for all we do. Whatever He has called us to do, He will give us the strength and fortitude to do it. Whether that's homeschooling your children, working to help support your family, being a pastor's wife, whatever it is. He alone will give you the strength to do His will.

However, we must do our part. After the example of our Savior, we must find a solitary place to be alone with God and pray. Spending time with Him should be the joy of our day.

Find a quiet place and pray. Be refreshed and recharged by spending time with the One who loves you the most. May you find joy anew from having been in your solitary place with the Lord.
