![]() ~ Jeremiah 30:2 ~ Let's get started. The first thing you will need is a pen and something to write on. You may use anything from a spiral bound notebook to a leather bound journal. Check with your local bookstores and see what they have. The christian bookstores have some nice ones. Select a journal that suits you. When you go shopping for a journal, look at all the styles. Pick them up and hold them in your hands. Purchase the one you feel most comfortable with. Next, you need to select a topic to write about. You may want to write about daily happenings in your life -- a diary style of writing, or you may choose to write about the things the Lord does for you on a regular basis. This will help you on your spiritual journey as you look back and see how God has worked in your life over a period time. Read a lot of books and observe everything around you. This will help you in choosing a subject and putting your thoughts on paper. Most journalists have a special place where they write each day. I have a chair in my livingroom that I love to sit in while I write. Here I can look out my window to the garden pond in front of my house. It's a very peaceful and inspirational place to write. You may prefer a desk or table for writing. Find a place that is comfortable for you. Gather things around that inspire you. Write about them. Many ladies have asked for journaling prompts to help get them started in journaling. God has given us a whole set of books from which we can find inspiration for writing. The Scriptures are replete with examples from nature, and why not? God is the creator of all things. Our Lord Jesus used nature to illustrate His sermons to the disciples and the crowds who followed Him, during His earthly ministry. Below are some biblical examples to help you begin your writing journey. Old Testament Examples: New Testament Examples: The most important thing to do, after prayer, is "put pen to paper"Nothing will get written unless the pen touches the paper. If words don't come right away, try doodling. Whatever you do, make sure the pen hits the paper. As an encouragement, to help you get started journaling, the link below is a collection of my personal poems. These poems began as journal entries I wrote while on vacation a few years ago. If you have further questions, please send them to Leah. All questions and answers will be posted to a page designated for that purpose. ![]() |
